Training Programs

Training programs for the military remain an effective way to communicate about the issues of wildlife trade.  We have examples of wildlife products and a variety of presentation materials to use in our training programs.

Activities

WCS staff are actively training Military Police, Deploying Soldiers, Cadets, and other military personnel through a series of training presentations, brochures, and web-based materials.  WCS is also annually participates at the Fort Drum Safety Day which serves 3000-5000 soldiers.

Threats

Raising awareness of the issue of wildlife trade in the military is the biggest challenge and increasing the number of touch points for getting the message to military personnel is important. An important challenge is deploying our materials and message to key locations in the military.

Accomplishments

From 2006 to 2010, we have provided presentations, lectures, and informational booths to over 10,000 members of the U.S. military in person.
